I didn't know how to start this because I listen to a wide variety of music. I don't listen to one specific genre.
My weakness though is 80's music. I love me some Journey, Flock of Seagulls you name it.
Hairbands rocked - my first concert was Bon Jovi/Skid Row when I was in 5th grade.

My tastes have always been eclectic. I have so many CDs that one of my friends called my living room a "pirate radio station". The best way to describe my collection is that Motley Crue sits right next to Mozart and they get along. My absolute favorites are equally diverse. Give me any Def Leppard, INXS, The Tragically Hip, Great Big Sea, Juanes or Die Toten Hosen song, and I am completely happy. My first concert was Duran Duran in 9th grade. So I have a long and proud history of fangirling.

lol nice.
I don't have a lot of CD's but I can say that would be like my collection if I had one. On my MP3 player that I listen to at work one minute I'll be listening to Missy Elliot & then I'll be listening to Nat King Cole.
Classic rock is another favorite of mine. LOVE The Doors, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Queen, Janis you name it. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era lol.
Thats not all though I go from to listening to Christina Aguilera, oldies (Martha Reeves, The Supremes, Bill Haley & the Comets) & big band/Frank Sinatra (I love a lot of his songs, with big band Glen Miller rocks).

My first gig was Duran Duran too. I'm not sure I should reveal the date though! ;-) Oh, ok it was 19th December 1983, and was my 13th birthday!
I saw Bon Jovi in 1989 on the New Jersey tour. Saw Skid Row twice too. Love those 80s LA rock bands, Crue, Poison, Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, as well as Metallica, AC/DC, Green Day, Rammstein, Muse, etc.
80's pop will always be a big love of mine as I was a teenager in the 80s.

I think we might have seen the same show - the Seven & The Ragged Tiger Tour? I saw them February 1984. (Ouch, that hurts to admit.)
As you can see, I was also an 80s teenager, so if it's New Romantic, True Alternative, Hairband, or Synth Pop I have probably adored it at some point.

Yep it was the Seven & The Ragged Tiger tour.
It was at Wembley Arena in London, and the other thing about that night which feels a bit odd now, is that Princess Diana was there. You probably know that DD were her favourite band when she was younger. Simon pointed her out to everyone, she was up in one of the private boxes.

DD would have been cool to see in concert but I was only going on 6 yrs old then. Instead I also saw Poison/Warrant in 6th grade & then I saw Poison again in 2000 when they were on tour with Slaughter, Dokken & Cinderella.

DD would have been cool to see in concert but I was only going on 6 yrs old then. You didn't miss much. I assume DD actually played music - you couldn't hear anything way up in the back where I was. There was too much constant teenybopper screaming everytime they showed one of the guys' faces on the screens.

New Kids on the Block were all the rage when I was in school. But I couldn't stand them. I remember coming into school the next day after the Bon Jovi/Skid Row concert wearing my Skid Row tshirt & being asked who Skid Row was. I thought my classmates were nuts because they didn't know. I also had a huge crush on Sebastian Bach. lol

Mmmmm, Sebastian Bach! *fans self*
My other crushes at that time were Bobby Dall from Poison, Phil Lewis of LA Guns, and my "one true love" Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. (Who is still hot, even at his age!!)

Well, S1 Eric does have that Sebastian Bach look going.....
I am more of a Joe Elliott girl myself. I finally saw Def Leppard in concert a couple of years ago and he had that "still hot for his age" vibe as well.
My other crush was Michael Hutchence. I was devastated when he died.

I also had a bit of a crush on Bret Michaels back in the day. Not so much now. Nikki Sixx still looks good. I used to have a Dr. Feelgood plaque in my room that my now ex-brother in law won for me at a county fair. I used to like Vince..again not so much now. My bedroom was plastered with pictures of rockers. On one of my walls I had 2 huge posters 1 of Def Leppard (I'm not going to lie I had a crush on the guitarist Phil lol) & Poison. My sister was a huge influence on the music I listened to (she's 5 years older than me so I listened to a lot of what she did).

Hutchence was HAWT, I also had a crush on Sting (still do, really) and Adam Ant...and when I was really young, Leif Garret <flinching in shame.> He's the earliest evidence of my horrible taste in men.

Also, in the GK thread, I'm collecting selections of car songs for Eric and Lafayette to sing on a road trip. Please add to my list.

Yes Michael Hutchence was hot & I loved the way he sang. I have Need You Tonight on my MP3 & his voice drips sex.
