What movies make you cry like a baby or simply tear up? Truthfully I'm not much of a crier when it comes to movies BUT when I watch Steel Magnolias when they take Julia Robert's character off of life support & the funeral scene in the cemetary make me tear up. I can't help it!!!
I'm also a fan of Pride & Prejudice (Keira Knightley version. I've never seen the Colin Firth one).

You're not missing much with the Colin Firth one. I really don't see the attraction of him in the wet shirt. It's does nothing for me at all.
I tend to only watch dramas if I can drool over the male actors. (I am the shallowest person in the world in this respect!) If there's no hottie, then Lupi no watchie! lol

You're not missing much with the Colin Firth one. I disagree, but not because of Colin (and I like Colin). It might be due to the 6 hours, or the writing, but I just think the BBC version of P&P is just so much more well done and true to the book. I think if I could exchange Matthew MacFadyen for Colin Firth, then the BBC version would be absolutely perfect.

For those of you who love the Colin Firth wet-from-the-lake part of P&P (BBC version), have you ever seen "Lost in Austen"? It was a miniseries that ran on Ovation a while ago. In it, the main character is a gal in modern Great Britain who finds herself stuck in P&P. At one point, she makes Mr. Darcy hop into the fountain & emerge from it (all wet), and says "I'm experiencing a postmodern moment here." It's pretty funny.

I have seen Lost in Austen, and I thought it was great. Their Mr. Darcy was pretty good too. He'd work as well in my recasted BBC version of P&P. =)

I loved Lost in Austen. My only gripe with that is that I wish they would have shown a bit more of Elizabeth in modern day. I would have liked to have seen her reaction to the modern London, telephones, tv's etc.

True, the fact that Elizabeth is MIA for so much of Lost in Austen is kind of strange. I liked the scenes of her in London, saying that she'd gone macrobiotic, and was minimizing her carbon footprint.
Also, apparently the version I saw had a scene deleted: in the original she sang "Downtown" for Darcy, et al., instead of playing piano. But in the version I saw, they skipped that, and saw Darcy & Bingley clapping. Anyone know why the scene was deleted?
