buckeyegirl had a question about Eric having a family in the books.
A: Yes he was married at 16 and they kids. The wife died during child birth. At least one of the children died as an infant. I believe two (maybe 3) were alive when he got turned. He talked about it with Sookie in Book 9- Dead and Gone.
Remembering this makes that scene with Eric and Arlene' s kids even more interesting. I noticed he kept his eyes on them while he was talking to Sam - like he was really curious about them.

Ooh how interesting! I hope that AB keeps that part of Eric & finds a way to work into the show because that would add just another layer & factor into an already interesting character.

It's a great scene and the first time she asked him such personal questions and he answered. There's some stuff about his maker too. If you want to know. It was different in the books.

I'm forgetting his name. It was in book 8. How he was made was interesting but different from the books. After his wife had died he went to another village to talk with the family of another girl so he could marry her. (He was a widow with kids and needed a wife.)
On his way home a man approached him. He had gotten drunk so he wasn't thinking clearly. This man is the one who turned him. He couldn't return to his village or see his family.
Oh shit I just realize this is yet ANOTHER Eric storyline that they gave to Bill. OMG it's very close to Bill turning on the show. wow.
Anyway, the man made Eric "get to know him:". Eric said he was able to enjoy it after all while. But he definitely prefers woman.

How funny but you're right! That is Bill except it's Eric. I hope that AB doesn't stray too far from Book Eric. I love TV Eric but now that I'm reading the books I want to see some of the book Eric retained in TV Eric.

I love TV Eric but now that I'm reading the books I want to see some of the book Eric retained in TV Eric. I had the same reaction to book Eric. Once I started reading I suddenly "got" why the book fans were so adamant about more Book Eric making it to the show. I really hate how they deleted the friendship Sookie and Eric had built. But I think this will come in season three. In the books by the time book two comes along they are doing stuff alone, while Bill was off doing vampire stuff.
